1) Survey to draw out Outstanding Universal Value to be qualified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Outstanding Universal Value: Cultural and/or natural significance which is so exceptional as to transcend national boundaries and to be of common importance for present and future generations of all humanity
2) Research basic data to analyze the current situation for the Authenticity and Integrity description
Authenticity: Form and design, Materials and substance, Use and function, Traditions, techniques and management systems, Location and setting, Language, and other forms of intangible heritage, Spirit and feeling, Other internal and external factors
Integrity: All the elements necessary to express its Outstanding Universal Value; Adequate size; Suffers from adverse effects of development and/or neglect

이 책은 총 두 권으로 구성되어 있다. 1권은 군용 색채에서 자주 사용되는 녹색을, 2권은 같은 계열의 갈색을 표지 색으로 선택했다. 표지의 그래픽은 군에서 널리 쓰이는 국방색 문양을 단순화해 재구성한 것으로, 점·선·면이 확장되는 구조를 기반으로 한다. 두 권의 그래픽은 서로 연결되어 하나의 한반도 비무장지대를 상징하는 형태를 이루도록 기획했다.
This publication consists of two volumes. The first volume adopts a military green commonly used in standard defense color palettes, while the second uses a brown tone from the same range. The cover graphic is a simplified reinterpretation of a defense camouflage pattern frequently used in military contexts, designed with an expanding structure of dots, lines, and planes. The graphics of the two volumes are conceived to connect with each other, forming a unified symbolic representation of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).
내용은 크게 세 개의 파트로 구성된다. 첫 번째 파트 ‘갈등–평화’는 한반도 DMZ의 현황과 전쟁의 흔적을 시각적으로 정리했다. 두 번째 파트 ‘역사–문화’는 DMZ 구역 내에 존재하는 문화재와 사적지 등 문화적 가치를 담았다. 세 번째 파트 ‘자연–생태’는 오랜 시간 보존되어 온 DMZ의 자연 환경과 생태적 풍경을 조명한다.
The content is organized into three major sections. The first section, “Conflict–Peace,” presents the current conditions of the DMZ and traces of the Korean War. The second section, “History–Culture,” focuses on cultural assets and historical sites located within the DMZ area. The third section, “Nature–Ecology,” highlights the preserved natural environment of the DMZ and its unique ecological landscape.
